Coffee at 3CUPS
![]()
We believe in coffee that tastes amazing. Sourcing the best beans from small farms in origin countries, being fanatics about freshness and hand making your cup in our store are all part of the attention to detail required to achieve impeccable flavor.
We are fanatics about freshness. We assure you our coffee is
fresh 3 ways; seasonally fresh, fresh roasted and freshly ground and
made to order. We label each coffee with the date it was roasted and
receive multiple shipments each week to keep our coffee super fresh. We won't sell beans that are over a week from roast date,
because that's not fair to you. Treat roasted coffee as you would
fresh produce: buy small quantities, as much as you would use in about
a week. Our Friday Fresh @ 3 program is a good way to do so.
We source from real farms. Working closely with Peter Giuliano,
of local roaster Counter Culture Coffee, we have long-term, direct-trade relationships with the farms who grow the coffee we sell. Because we are
buying the best coffee we pay a premium for the beans in most cases far
above the fair trade minimum.
In our store, we make your coffee to order. You get to choose the coffee you want off our coffee list and we'll prepare it in a manner to bring out the authentic flavor of the bean. So we serve coffee in press pots, the best way to enjoy the complex flavors and body that world-class coffees contain. Made to order is not cheap nor easy... but it's worth it!
At 3CUPS, we have custom, medium-roasted coffee. We
look for the right roast to release the authentic flavors inherent in
each bean. All our coffee is custom-roasted to a medium level, to just
the right level of caramelization. All the sugars in the bean are
brought out with this roast, and the complex flavors of chocolate,
berries, honey, etc. "sing" through.
Here’s how it works… every Friday morning we will have a batch of what we feel is THE coffee of the week custom-roasted and delivered to 3CUPS. We’ll have it ready for you to purchase by 3PM Friday and all weekend… so you’ll have impeccably fresh coffee to enjoy until next week. Freshness is always a challenge. Too often you have to compromise what is best for the customer to meet economic and logistical issues. One of the reasons we opened and are excited about 3CUPS is there’s no compromise when it comes to freshness and therefore flavor.

Weekly Coffee Workshops... Every Saturday at noon we host a free coffee workshop in the store.
One week it will be a coffee cupping, a process to analyze the
characteristics of 3 coffees as they go from beans to drink. Lot's of
sniffing and slurping. Every other week, we host a coffee brewing
workshop, one coffee brewed 4 different ways. You can see how a press
pot is different from a cone drip and a vacuum pot. Come and learn the skills to make great coffee at home. Click here for upcoming coffee workshops.
Seasonal
Feature Farm... Each season, we feature a different farm to single and
out highlight. As different harvests arrive, we'll pick the best one
and tell the story on the big red board in the store. We'll have that
coffee until the end of the season and hopefully you will have an
opportunity to get to know the coffee as the pick matures.
Coffee Mail Order... If you live out of town or want to
give a great gift, we offer coffee mail order options. Roasted Tuesday
morning and shipped that afternoon, we send out the Friday Fresh coffee
throughout the country. Save some money by signing up for 3 month or 6
month plans. Click here for more information.
In our store... we serve coffee prepared in small batches. The best flavor is made by the press pot and we honor these great coffees by brewing them in 1 cup (Single), 2 cup (Small), 4 cup (Medium) and 6 cup (Large) presses. If your coffee is to go, we make it in Melitta-style pour over cone drip. We make coffee "to order" to let their authentic flavors shine. In addition to our regular menu, on weekday mornings we hand make our morning Quick Cup in 5 cups batches for those on the go. Everything we do can be easily replicated at home.
