Thursday, December 18, 5-8PM, $15... Since 1996 the Climax, NC - based farm has made great cheese through gentle farming of Saanen, Nubian, and French Alpine Goats. Cheesemaker Samantha Genke will show up to talk about how Goat Lady makes such a delicious and varied array of cheeses. Elaine and I will talk and pour wine. Doing prep work for events like this one is great. Brows furrowed, hunched over a table full of goat cheeses and wine samples, furiously taking notes, ferreting out the best possible pairings. Yes. That's how we should do it. Reality is a little more relaxed, hard-core snacking punctuated by profundity like "wow, this cheese is amazing!" and the passing of bottles. How could we stop ourselves? These cheeses are as good as almost any that I've tasted in France or Italy or Spain, and they are available in pristine, really beautiful condition since they're made almost on our doorstep. I have the suspricion Goat Lady product is going to become a popular item at 3CUPS.
